Loss Prevention Asia 2025
Dr. Rich Hanowski represented Motorcycle Safety Solutions Asia (MSS) at Loss Prevention Asia 2025 (LPA 2025) at KLCC, presenting paper 112 on mitigating road crash risks and safeguarding employees who commute via motorcycle.
At Loss Prevention Asia 2025 (LPA 2025), held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia, Motorcycle Safety Solutions Asia (M) Sdn Bhd (MSS) contributed to the regional discourse on workplace risk management and safety innovation.
Aligning with the conference theme, "Loss Prevention: Pushing the Boundary in Managing Risk and Driving Innovation," MSS emphasized that comprehensive occupational health and safety (OSH) strategies must extend beyond traditional facility gates to address high-risk daily employee transit.
Technical Paper Presentation: Safety Beyond the Jobsite
During the Advanced Research in Safety (PS 1) technical session on 8 October 2025 (Room 408), Dr. Rich Hanowski presented Paper 112, titled:
"Worker Safety Beyond the Jobsite: Mitigating Road Crash Risk for Employees that Commute Via Motorcycle"
The presentation detailed the empirical challenges and heightened vulnerability faced by two-wheeler commuters across Southeast Asia. Dr. Hanowski outlined actionable, proactive risk-reduction frameworks, illustrating how edge-processing telematics, behavioral coaching, and predictive safety indicators (such as harsh braking and close-following metrics) enable enterprise employers to curb commuting incidents, lower lost-time injury claims, and protect workforces prior to arriving at the worksite.
Industry Impact & Regional Collaboration
The session drew strong engagement from enterprise safety leads, corporate risk managers, and OSH practitioners across ASEAN. The technical dialogue reinforced that proactive behavioral nudges and connected vehicle technology represent crucial next steps in modern industrial loss prevention, establishing vehicle safety as an integral extension of organizational health policies.
