ISMSI 2025: Advancing Motorcycle Safety & RideHawk™ at Vietnamese-German University

At the International Symposium on Mobility Safety Initiatives (ISMSI 2025) hosted by Vietnamese-German University (VGU), Motorcycle Safety Solutions showcased RideHawk™ alongside regional road safety experts to mitigate two-wheeler crash vulnerabilities through real-time forward collision warnings, AI telemetry, and targeted rider coaching.

On 1 October 2025, the Civil Engineering and Construction Management (BCE) program at the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) hosted the International Symposium on Mobility Safety Initiatives (ISMSI 2025) in Vietnam. The symposium addressed one of Southeast Asia's most urgent road safety challenges: the high vulnerability of powered two-wheelers (PTW) that dominate daily regional traffic.

The event brought together leading academic and industry specialists, including Dr. Rich Hanowski (Founder & CEO of Motorcycle Safety Solutions), Dr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh Man (BCE Program, VGU), and Dr. Maya Arlini Puspasari (University of Indonesia), following opening remarks from Ms. Hoai Nguyen Thi, Deputy Head of VGU's Research Management Department.

RideHawk™ Keynote: Real-Time Collision Prevention

Dr. Richard Hanowski introduced RideHawk™, an intelligent forward collision warning system engineered specifically to safeguard motorcycle riders. The presentation detailed how RideHawk™ detects imminent collision risks in real time, provides timely alerts prior to critical impact thresholds, and utilizes AI-powered telemetry alongside personalized training modules to drive measurable, proactive behavioral coaching.

Academic Synergy & Regional Findings

Technical sessions underscored the collaborative effort between industry and academia to validate safety technologies:

Empirical Validation: Dr. Maya Arlini Puspasari shared research findings illustrating the measurable impact of active warning systems in curtailing high-risk riding maneuvers and reducing safety-critical traffic events.

Micromobility & Novice Rider Training: Dr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh Man examined the opportunities and technical barriers of electric micromobility, proposing a hybrid hazard avoidance training framework and a two-stage licensing mechanism for young novice riders across Vietnam.

Live Hardware & Telematics Demonstration

The symposium concluded with a live, hands-on demonstration of the RideHawk™ hardware ecosystem. Academic researchers, engineering students, and regional mobility stakeholders observed the forward distance sensor alerts and telematics data capture in real-world operating conditions, solidifying the partnership between VGU and MSS to implement scalable, science-backed road safety interventions across ASEAN.
